Board Qualified in RRA Surgery
A podiatrist who has passed the board qualification examination in Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery may be declared Board Qualified in Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery and will have demonstrated a level of capability in the diagnosis of general medical problems including the diagnosis and surgical management of foot and ankle diseases, deformities, and/or trauma, and those structures which affect the foot, ankle, and leg.
The current qualifications include:
- Completion of a four-year doctoral training at a CPME-accredited podiatric medical school.
- Submission of verified residency clinical logs through Podiatry Residency Resource documenting the minimum activity volumes and surgical diversity specified for foot surgery and reconstructive rearfoot/ankle surgery by CPME Document 320.
- Completion of residency training at a program approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME).
Podiatric Surgical Residency - 24 CPME-approved podiatric surgical residency.
Podiatric Medicine and Surgery – 36 CPME-approved residency.
- Passing the Written Examination in Foot Surgery.
- Passing the Written Examination in Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery.
Board Qualified status in Foot Surgery is a pre-requisite for Board Qualified status in Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery. Board Qualified status in Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery is valid for seven years.
Requirement
Passing the Foot Written Examination in Foot Surgery is a pre-requisite for becoming Board Qualified in Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery.
Seven Years
Board Qualified in Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery status is limited to seven years.
