Certification in
Foot & Ankle Surgery
Beginning in 2004, diplomates certified in Foot and Ankle Surgery have the opportunity to voluntarily convert to certifications in both Foot surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle surgery by participating in a process developed by the Board of Directors detailed in document ABPS112. Prior to 1991, ABPS offered a single certification in Foot and Ankle Surgery.
Diplomates certified in Foot and Ankle surgery are required to take a self-assessment examination every ten years.
Definition
Prior to 1991, ABPS had a single certification track in Foot and Ankle Surgery. Since then, ABPS has had two certification tracks: one in Foot Surgery and the other in Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery.
Self-Assessment
Diplomates certified prior to 1991 are required to complete a self-assessment examination every ten years.
